Prepping for the Ultimate Reset

A month or two ago a good friend of mine shared that she was planning to do the Ultimate Reset program in September.  My husband jumped on board and said that he would be down for doing another round, but I did not.  We did our first Ultimate Reset back in 2013.  What is the Ultimate Reset…in a nutshell, it is a 21-day program that gently helps you restore your body to its “factory settings” while maximizing energy production and nutrient retention. Ultimate Reset is a program designed to get the body in top shape internally, just as a fitness program gets the body in top shape externally. If you’re  looking to restore energy, boost moods, and maximize health the Ultimate Reset can dramatically improve the way you feel and function.  And that’s really what happened when we first did the program.  Jason lost 23 pounds in 21 days and I lost around 12.  Unfortunately, Jason had documented that journey on a blog that we no longer have…so I decided I would chat about it here.

Why am I doing the Ultimate Reset?

Ok, back to my story.  I wasn’t fully on board with doing the Ultimate Reset until about 2 weeks ago.  Up until then, I had planned to help Jason go ALL IN with his reset but I was going to continue on with the fitness program I had started and just eat the same food…thinking I’d still see some results. With this program you’re not allowed to do strenuous workouts.  But the more I got to thinking about our first experience with the Reset and the results we got and how stuck I had been feeling with my health, I realized that my body needed a Reset. So I decided that I was going to go ALL in with my hubby and fellow team mates!

Fast forward to this weekend!  Because I have experience with this program I knew that I needed to get some prep work done this weekend.  You literally trade your workout time for food prep time…or at least thats what it felt like the first time we did it!  I hope to ease some of that feeling this go around by prepping stuff on Sundays and Wednesdays so the rest of the week doesn’t seem so bad!  img_0887

After our kits came in the mail…I took some time to review the materials.  The program has had some minor tweaks since we did it so I wanted to make sure I knew what to expect.  The major differences were the afternoon “Alkalize” is now called “Power Greens”, they added a supplement called “Soothe”, there is a completely Vegan option, there is no longer a video included in the kit and the guidebook was updated with more information!  All good stuff in my opinion!

So yesterday (Saturday) I printed out the shopping list and started going through my kitchen to see what I already had so I could cross that stuff off! Then I gathered up my reusable bags and headed to Sprouts!  You really have to go to a health food store for nearly everything on the list.  They suggest you buy all organic but I didn’t.  I did with a lot of it but I definitely can’t say I img_0944did with everything. Even though I’ve done this before…it still took me over an hour in Sprouts hunting everything down.  Oh and note to self…don’t go shopping on a Saturday afternoon! It was PACKED!!  Here’s a look at my grocery haul!!img_0955

Last night while we were watching TV I took some time to read through the entire guidebook to make sure nothing drastic had changed.  While I did that I made my list of things that I need to prep the next day!  I did this by looking at the first 3 days of meals, checking the recipes and determining what could be done in advance.  Here’s the list I came up with!  img_0984

I still have to grill the chicken and make the lentils tonight but everything else on the list got accomplished!  I intend to schedule some time on Wednesday to do some prep work for the rest of the weeks meals!  I’ll also be taking Day 1 Photos and measurements…can’t forget those because what do they say…a picture is worth a thousand words!!
