So the old saying goes…if you fail to plan, you plan to fail right! Well, I’ve got just about 45 days until I hit the sandy beaches of Cancun on a FREE trip that I earned from Beachbody and I need to be ready!
I have just completed a round of Insanity Max 30, but honestly I’m just not where I want to be. I could make a bazillion excuses as to why, but when it comes right down to it, I didn’t plan very well….more on this in another post!
But for now, my commitment is to Beachbody’s newest program, The 21 Day Fix Extreme! But here’s the thing…when the first 21 Day Fix came out last year, I did it…but I never really LOVED the little containers. I guess you could say I had a little bit of hesitation to using them and throughout most of 2014, I would mainly track my food using My Fitness Pal which really worked for me. My coach has become quite the pro using these cute little things and has phenomenal success but me not so much.
I think I’ve come to a place in my fitness though that I need to do something different because honestly, I’ve pretty much been at the same weight and size for YEARS! I did bust through the plateau last summer when I did PiYo and logged everything with My Fitness Pal…but after the holidays and less than stellar tracking and food choices over the last couple months, I find myself stuck back in that maintenance mode where I was before and I don’t like it.
I KNOW that with a solid commitment to the 21 Day Fix Extreme, I will be able to bust through the plateau and finally get the defined muscles and abs (no I’m not really going for the six pack look) I’ve been wanting for a couple years now and feel confident wearing a bikini on the beaches of Cancun!
So today, I spent about 2, maybe 2 and a half hours getting myself ready! The first part was actually sitting down with the nutrition guide, some paper, and markers and planning my meals. I know, I went old school for now. I’m sure I’ll come up with a digital version once I get the hang of it like my hubby suggested, but it worked for me today.
I have time for 2 rounds of Fix Extreme before my trip. So, I’ve decided for my first round I’ll follow the Extreme Eating Plan for 4 days per week and the other 3 I will follow the Countdown to Competition. The 2nd round, I will do Countdown to Competition plan as outlined in the guide that only has only 2 days per week of the Extreme Eating plan in it and 5 days of Countdown to Competition.
So here’s a quick look at what my week 1 will look like food wise!
Then it was time to prep some food to save time during the week! Luckily, I was able to create a meal plan with what I already had in the fridge from grocery shopping a day or two ago…so I was excited about that. I probably won’t have to go to the grocery store til later in the week for more fresh fruit and veggies!
For my actual food prep, I boiled some eggs, baked 4 chicken breasts and made the ground beef filling for the lettuce wraps on Tuesday. (I made extra of everything so that there would be enough for my hubby have stuff throughout the week.) I had also picked up a couple pounds of ground turkey which I made a bunch of turkey meatballs for an easy protein source for everyone in the family. Finally, I cut up a cantaloupe, sliced some cucumber and prepped some mini peppers then portioned them out into ziploc baggies (I know not very environmentally friendly but seems the kids have used most of my containers for stuff in the yard and around the house so they were few and far between) for easy grab and go veggies. (forgot to take a pic of those before I put them in the fridge!)
Overall, I feel more prepared food wise than with ANY program I’ve ever done before. I still need to take before pictures and measurements tomorrow! I’m super excited about this new journey and look forward to sharing it with you.
