What is it about having a senior in high school that has me feeling all the emotional feels. I think this may have me more worked up and emotional than when she started kindergarten. Perhaps because its the end of a season of parenting where when they start school you still have them at home. I’m doing all I can to celebrate our Senior this year. One way I’m doing this is through giving her a Senior Box once a month. A Senior Treasure box if you will.
What is a Senior Treasure Box?
A senior treasure box is simply a gift or gifts that you give to your senior once a month on the day of the month of their graduation year. So with my senior graduating in 2023, she is getting a gift on the 23rd of each month. You can get as creative as you want or keep is super simple…there’s no right or wrong way to go about it.
You can choose to give one gift, or a group of 23 smaller gifts! I chose to do 23 smaller gifts. For the sake of this post, I’m not going to be listing all the gifts or ideas I’m giving to her because its still the beginning of the year and I don’t want to spoil her surprises.
Recycling an old box
The idea for this came from a group on Facebook by Grown and Flown. You can find their website HERE. If you have older kiddos, I would highly recommend plugging into their community! Being that “crafty” mom who is trying not to spend extra money (senior year has already proved to be expensive…more on that in another post) of course I had to make a box for her senior treasure box.
I found an old Fab Fit Fun box and some purple spray paint in the garage (why we had purple paint I have no idea but it all worked out.) Then used my Cricut to cut out a design that I found on Creative Fabrica. (the best place to find ready made SVG files! I’m not an expert on Cricut by any means so it too me two attempts to get it right. Found some other purple stuff in our big party supply box and this was the result! (I didn’t know I was going to be doing 100 days of blogging or would have taken pictures of the process.)
On the inside of the box I put this description on the inside of the lid and then on top of each gift there will be a little card I created on Canva!
So thats what the Senior Treasure Box is all about. Its another fun way to celebrate your senior as they get ready to spread their wings and fly! I’ll either update this post or do a recap post at the end of the school year. If you have other ideas or things you’ve done with your kids, please comment below! There still lots of time for me to do more so I’m all ears!
