If you’ve followed my journey for awhile you know that my relationship with Tony Horton (ok…its not really a relationship really but you know what I mean!) goes way back to 2002 when I started my first Beachbody fitness program called Power 90! But this post isn’t about that…this post is about the girl you see in these two pictures with Tony and how coaching has changed me as a person!
On the left you see a mom of a 3 and 5 year old who had success with losing her baby weight but was still so insecure, terrified of approaching people (especially Tony) and didn’t feel comfortable in her own skin. I mean..look at the sheer terror in my face. She had signed up to be a coach but wasn’t doing much with it. She knew she loved Beachbody and wanted to be part of it, but inside she didn’t think she had what it took to be successful. She obsessively compared herself to others and was so worried about what others thought of her that she rarely stepped outsider her comfort zone!
You see her mentor, Monica Koon Ward was a founding coach who appeared to have everything together and seemed to know exactly what she was doing. (little did I know she was figuring things out too because this coaching thing was still pretty new). But my mentor never gave up on me. She saw something in me that I really didn’t see in myself! During those first years, I did what I could but I wasn’t consistent and I didn’t really go ALL in. At the time I was also running a side business sewing and selling things in an Etsy shop and was totally just dabbling in the Beachbody thing!
January 2012 was my turning point though. (I have a different post that talks about that) but basically I had realized that I couldn’t achieve GREAT success if I had too many irons in the fire. I had to commit to ONE thing and give it all I had. My mentor had shown me the potential of what could be achieved with Beachbody because she was already earning more than a 6 figure income with her business. I knew with the sewing business I’d have to be sewing A LOT of $10-12 items earn a full time income! So of course I chose to go all in with Beachbody! And now…just a little over 4 years from that decision, I feel like a completely different coach than I was in the 2010 picture.
First…I am no longer terr
ified to approach Tony…a little starstruck maybe but way more confident about it. Oh and it helps that he remembers who you are and sometimes even gives you a kiss on the cheek when he sees you! (ok he only did that once or twice a few year ago) Second, I totally stepped outside my comfort zone and stepped up to be a leader. I can remember the conversation with Monica as if it were yesterday…she said…”Tami, you’re a leader whether you think you are or not.” Now I lead an amazing team of coaches who I consider my second family! I don’t second guess myself and when things don’t go as planned…its totally OK! I don’t beat myself up like I would have…case in point I had quite the challenge with technology tonight and our team call! Such as life! lol
But because of this amazing team and the work we do, I had my highest personal and team volume week as well as my highest weekly paycheck…we get paid every Thursday! Its insane to me!! To put it in perspective…I would’ve had to sew (and sell) over 250 items in one week to earn what I did this week (which realistically would never happen unless I had a hired employees to do it)
I honestly don’t share this to brag…absolutely not! But to share with you the potential exists…like my mentor did! I want you to know that its completely possible for anyone who is willing to make a commitment to improving their health and fitness, sharing about your journey with others and inspiring people along the way. But MOST importantly, you have to believe in yourself and decide to go ALL IN. You can’t dabble in this and that and expect big things happen. You have to MAKE them happen.
