A look back

I’ve been doing  A LOT of reflecting over the last couple weeks because I’m exactly where I had envisioned myself to be a few  years ago.  One of the first tools that Beachbody came out with was a little booklet called a Getting Started Right Guide.  When I was cleaning and organizing my office, I came across an old box of books, binders and papers and inside was one of the first guides that I ever filled out when I was just getting my feet wet as a coach.  Here is a picture of that guide:

What’s SUPER exciting is that every single one of these goals has come to fruition.  (Ok well, the lush landscaping was there until this little beauty joined our family and took up digging!  But our backyard did get an amazing makeover and I’m confident that one day it will look that good again!!  garden 2015-02-20 12.21.21
So long story short, there really is something to writing down your goals, believing in them and working hard to achieve them!  I just wish I would have dated this little booklet to show when I actually set those goals.
Below is a note that I originally posted on Facebook on August 5, 2012.  From my previous post, you can see that at this point I was just earning enough to cover what a PT job would have paid with just 8 months of committed activity.

Here’s the NOTE and Why I Work from Home:

When our kiddos were born, Jason and I agreed that I would stay at home with them until they both were in school and then I’d probably go back to work. While living in Flagstaff in 2008 our lives were turned upside down when the company he was working for closed his division.  Jobs were scarce in Flag so I too started interviewing for full-time positions in human resources. This process made me super sad. I realized how blessed and lucky I was to get to stay home with my two beautiful little girls.  Thankfully he found a job after a couple months and I didn’t end up having to find work.  But the position he was offered was in Phoenix…2 hrs away.  Without much of a choice,  he took it and commuted home on the weekends.  After a year of this living arrangement, we were all finally back living together under one roof in Phoenix.

I became a Beachbody Coach in 2008 (after being a long time customer and Success story http://www.beachbody.com/product/success_stories/2002/2002_hawaii_trip.do  but had a hard time really focusing and treating it like a business during those first years because of what was going on in my life.  But I believed in the products and the company so much, I remained an active (but non-working) coach.  I did go through through periods of activity…just not consistently.

When my oldest daughter entered Kindergarten 2 years ago, I knew that the time was coming when I’d be going “back to work”.  This was not something that I wanted to do but I did however want to start contributing more financially to the family.  So at that point we gave me goal to be earning at least what a “part time” job income would be in my field with my Beachbody business by the time my youngest went to school.  If I did that, I would be able to continue to stay home and build my Beachbody business into a full time income and not have to go back to corporate America!

Well that day is tomorrow.  And guess what….I did it!  Tomorrow, I can officially call myself a full-time Beachbody Coach…not that its really going to be a “full-time job” though.   In fact, its not a job at all when you get to do something that you really love that is making a difference in peoples lives.  I’m so excited to be able to spend the time my kids are at school, helping people lead more healthy and fulfilling lifestyles.
