Blast from the Past. A Budding Entrepreneur

Its Saturday and time of another Blast from the past series! This is a series of blog posts that I’m moving over from a small family blog I had when I girls were younger. Today is called a budding entrepreneur. Its seemed fitting since Saturdays are our market day for The Scrunchie Sisters.

The following blog post was dated March 17, 2010

Kendall came to me today after being outside playing with Sydney and says she wanted to have a “Nature sale”. After asking her what she meant, she showed me her bucket of rocks and weeds and said she wanted to go sell them. So she told me we needed to make a sign and then we proceeded to set up shop at the end of our driveway.

Kids at this age have no inhibitions. She wanted to go to everyone that she saw on the street and ask them to come see what she was selling. I wanted to encourage her entrepreneurial spirit so away we went…she did manage to get a few people to buy some rocks…aka, gravel from the back yard. It was definitely a very cute moment…I think she’s learned about selling stuff from me making and selling my crafts!!

That was the extent of the post. Back then, I wasn’t using Facebook, I was simply blogging about life. So there wasn’t much context to my post!

As a mom of teenagers, we have to remember that so much of what we do as parents is emulated by our kids.  At that time in my life I was sewing things like crayon holders, reusable baggies and tea wallets. I would sell on Etsy.com and small vendor events. So thats where the Nature sale idea came from. Now my girls are now the ones doing those events for The Scrunchie Sisters. They do most of the set up and also run our booth. I guess you could say they are now each somewhat of a budding entrepreneur.  No picture from todays event. But here’s one from our very first event to one of our most recent!

I definitely am enjoying my Saturdays with these two. Even if they tend to pick on and bicker at each other from time to time. #sisterlylove I guess! I’m just glad they have each other to be on their budding entrepreneur journey with.

Thats it for today!  See you back here tomorrow!!
