Sundays are a great day to spend some time planning your week ahead! I can definitely tell the difference in my productivity the weeks I plan and those I don’t.
So where do you start?
First, get out a blank sheet of paper and immediately start writing everything you have on your mind that that you need to do. I call this exercise a Brain Dump!
Have an event coming up that you need to do things for..write them down. Is your house in need of a deep clean? Put it on the list. Doctors appointments, kids activities, meetings…everything needs to be written down. If you have a home business, you might want to make a separate list for just the things you need to do for that. What’s important though is to take time and jot down all the things you can think of that you need to do. If you’re someone who likes lists…you can use a simple form like this one. But a blank sheet of paper works well too. I like to blank pages whatever planner I’m using. For the past couple years I’ve been using the Rise Up Planner. But might be looking into other planners with the new year so drop any favorites you have in the comments!
Narrow it down.
Now that you’ve got your list, you can set the priority of each item for that week. This brain dump becomes your master list for planning your week. Think about your bigger goals and make sure you’re doing things that help you build toward those goals.
Are you on a health journey…plan and prep your meals; schedule when you will do your workouts; write it down in your calendar.
Are you working to build a business so that you can create income for your family…write down 10 goals that you’re working towards (I am statements work well for this), schedule time to work your business, read/listen to personal development and put it in your calendar…don’t leave it to chance!
Do you have some projects around the house that need to get done? Make that list and schedule time in your week to work on it.
Set priorities when planning your week
If you are serious about making changes in your life…you have to make them a priority!! We all have the same 24 hours in a day…what you choose to do with them is determined by what’s the most important to you!
I love the quote…”if its important to you, you’ll find a way. If its not, you’ll make an excuse.” I have no idea who said that quote but I do love it!
Until tomorrow.
