Why Follow a Schedule

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve preached about how planning out your day leads to having a more productive day. But what happens when you don’t follow your schedule?  Well, what happens is you end up writing a blog post at 10pm when you should be going to bed!

Sure, I could put it off and not do Day 33. Nothing dramatic is going to happen to me. No one is really going to know or probably care too much if I don’t put up a blog post today or not. But guess who will?  Me.  I will.  I told myself I was going to write up a blog post every day for 100 days and if I don’t, I’m going to be letting myself down. Another thing I said I was going to do and didn’t follow through. To be honest, I’m tired of saying I’m going to do something and not doing it!

Why am I like this

When I think about why I’ve gotten so good at not following through with certain projects while crushing others, I can pinpoint it to pretty much ONE thing. The things I’m made a priority and followed through with were a priority to me. It super easy when you are an entrepreneur to become complacent and comfortable.  The times that I had the most success as a business owner was when I had solid vision of what I wanted, had goals I was working towards and would follow a schedule.

What happened

Here’s the thing, I had time blocked off in my calendar today to write this blog post. However, today was one of those days where I didn’t make a to do list at the beginning of my day and didn’t follow my time blocked calendar. I have some reoccurring appointments in my calendar for the different businesses I run. I kinda flew by the seat of my pants!  And while I did get stuff done for some other projects, the blog post didn’t happen til tonight.

Will to better tomorrow and follow my schedule.

So today is my, I messed up post.  My, I’m not perfect post. I mean, we all know “nobodys perfect” but this is me not only owning the fact that I didn’t write a post for today and that I didn’t follow my schedule, but also doing what I said I was going to do.  I wrote the post!

Until tomorrow.
