Embarking on a Journey: My 100 Day Weight Loss Challenge at 51

Today marks my 51st birthday, and as I blow out the candles, I am also blowing away my excuses.

Tomorrow, I’m diving headfirst into a 100-day weight loss challenge, and I couldn’t be more excited! Its been awhile since I went all in on something. In this blog post, I want to share my motivation, my plan, and extend an invitation to anyone else looking to commit to their health journey. But I’m taking a different approach this time…read on if you’re interested.

Rediscovering Myself at 51

Somewhere along the journey of life over the last year or so, I started feeling very blah about my health journey. Whether it’s the subtle effects of the beginning of menopause, the inevitable changes that come with aging, or simply inconsistency in my eating habits, the result was the same: some unwanted pounds have crept on. But today, on my 51st birthday, I am choosing to recommit to myself.

While I know what I need to do after all those years of running health/wellness accountability groups, I felt like I needed to change things up a bit. And with a little over 100 days left in the year, I decided to create a personal 100 day challenge for myself after stumbling upon a book thats been sitting on my shelf for awhile aptly titled, “100 Days of Weight Loss”.  I had picked this book at a thrift store a long time ago and never read it. I tend to do that a lot with thrift store books…don’t ask!

About The 100 Day Weight Loss Challenge

To kickstart my journey, I decided to use the guidance of this book to take me through the 100 days. I found a newer copy of it on Amazon…get it HERE   I decided to use it a springboard for my own personal challenge for a few reasons. First, it allows me to pick my own path, making it flexible and adaptable to my unique needs and preferences. Second, it’s not about quick fixes or fad diets; it’s about sustainable, long-term change. Third, each day there’s just a couple pages to read and a simple lesson related to that days reading.  If you miss a day…you don’t start over.  You just keep going until you have completed 100 days. I don’t want to feel like I failed if I miss a day of following what I set as my daily goal…but each day I complete it, is another day closer to finishing all 100 days with the goal to be to finish it before the end of the year and see what kind of results I can achieve.

My book looks like this but the new version has a different cover.

Let me be clear about something…,this is not a Beachbody challenge or is in any way affiliated with the programs and products I have used on my wellness journey since 2002. While I am still a Partner with the company and still use a handful of the products, I haven’t been actively promoting them on my social media for quite some time now. More on the reasons in a future blog post…maybe!  But the short reason is my focus has been on other things.  Should you choose to do a 100 day challenge…you are free to follow whatever workouts, nutrition plan, and supplements you choose to!

Since I do still have people reach out to me and ask about how they can get different Beachbody/BODi products I thought I’d share my link for the workouts HERE  My favorite Workout Supplements HERE and The Superfoods Shake I drink daily has either VEGAN and WHEY  Please note I’m not currently running any types of coaching/accountability groups.  If you need something like that…I have a few awesome Partners on my team that are and I’d be happy to refer you to them!

Why I’m Sharing My Journey

In all the years that I was actively promoting Beachbody products, I learned that accountability and support can make all the difference in achieving our goals. And while I still believe this to be true, I’m not in a place where I would be effective at running or being part of another Facebook group. (Busy season for our handmade business is upon us and that is my priority right now!  I’m soaking in all the time I can with my youngest daughter while she’s still in high school!)

Instead offering a group, my accountability is going to be through sharing updates on my journey via this blog, YouTube or perhaps a short update here and there on social media.  (I don’t use social media near as much as I used to so I’m not promising updates there.) If you want to follow my journey, the best thing would be to subscribe to my email list. (if you’re not already) You can do that HERE.  When I write a new blog post or YouTube video, I’ll send a quick email when it goes live.

The 100 Day Coloring Page

As a little extra motivation and a fun way to stay on track, I’ve created a coloring page. This page is not just a pretty design; it’s a visual representation of our progress. Each day, we can color in a section of a bouquet of flowers, symbolizing our dedication and taking one step closer to our goals. Once we’ve completed 100 days, we’ll have a beautiful bouquet of flowers!! You can order a copy of it HERE  Should you decide to get the coloring page…I would love follow your journey.  Please tag me when you share it on social media!

As I celebrate my 51st birthday, I am filled with hope and determination. The 100-day weight loss challenge is not just about shedding pounds; it’s about rediscovering myself, feeling healthier, and committing to self-care.

If you’re ready to commit to yourself and your health, I invite you to join me on this 100 day adventure. Even though I’m not running an official group…I would still encourage you to start your own 100 day challenge!  Together, we can share our successes, struggles, and motivate each other to keep going virtually.  To complete a 100 day challenge in 2023, you’d just need to start it by September 22.  Let’s make these 100 days count, one colorful step at a time. Cheers to a healthier and happier version of ourselves! 🎉💪
